Alaska is quite possibly the most beautiful place on the planet. Tremendous glacial capped mountains that butt up to the oceans edge. Bears, moose, wolf, and an assortment of other wild animals roam freely throughout the state.

The crowning jewel of the entire place just may be Southeast Alaska. Deep fjiords that harbor Humpback whales, Orcas, Seals, and the entire supporting food chain, just add to the specter of S.E. Alaska.

S.E. Alaska is over 350 miles long, and only has three roads that go to the interior due to the fact that the coastal mountains and gigantic glaciers block any attempt to build roads from most towns. The three towns are Hyder, Skagway, and the town I reside in, Haines. The small community of Haines is approx. 2000 year round residents that has an economy of fishing, logging, and of course tourism.

Only 38 miles from the Canadian border makes Haines popular way for the Yukon to ship and receive goods year round; as well as making the Yukon a popular place for the people of Haines to go see a movie or eat Chinese food.
